This week in reception we have started our new topic on mini beasts!

We have been reading ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and investigating how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. We have learned lots of new vocabulary like ‘chrysalis’, ‘pupa’, ‘antenna’ and ‘life cycle’.

We created our own butterfly life cycle by splitting into different groups and creating different parts of the cycle. This meant we all contributed to the poster and worked together to create a great end product. We were very busy making leaves with eggs on, caterpillars, cocoons and butterflies!

In Reception we have been learning about Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the pig. We have been exploring the story of the three little pigs and acting it out in our new and improved outdoor area.

 Uh oh! Here is the wolf!

We then played a game called hot seat. The children have to imagine they are the character and answer from their point of view. We have even made houses inside!

We took advantage of the snow today on another winter walk! We had snow angels, chasing games, snowballs, mini snowmen and crunchy footsteps! We had loads of fun and then experimented with different ways of warming up once we went back inside.
