We have had a lovely time this afternoon enjoying the Autumn weather and the crunchy leaves!
Some children were sweeping leaves into piles, others threw them in the air and some kicked them to see them fly in the wind.

Today we had a look inside a giant pumpkin! We scooped out all the flesh and seeds to see what it felt like.
Then we carved it into a spooky Halloween pumpkin! We had loads of fun and used loads of great words like ‘squelchy’, ‘slimey’, ‘wet’ and ‘slippery’.
After we had done our floating and sinking activity we stayed outside to explore.
Some children noticed the water had made a giant puddle and got their wellies on to jump in – they had lots of fun!
This week we have been focusing our learning around the story ‘Stickman’ – we noticed in the story that Stickman could float and thought we would try and make some boats so he could get back to the family tree safely.
We used different materials and then did some experiments outside to see if they would float or sink. After that we used other natural materials like leaves, conkers, pinecones and sticks to see which would float and which would sink!
We have been practicing our counting skills because some of us find it tricky – the children have learned to touch each object and give it a number name – we counted the small bears, then the big bears and then how many all together!
We have started our Autumn topic and have been experimenting with mixing colours – we discovered how to make orange, green and brown and then painted our leaves in autumn colours!
